WATER MACHINE RIVER
Glasgow-based band Water Machine have returned with their new track, ‘River’. Continuing on in their established style, the band lean into a weird, wonky type of art-punk that blends attitude and politics with singalong melodies and a razor-sharp compositional style. They say that this is “a song we wrote about a hostile relationship between you and your neighbour who you're convinced is trying to steal your boat. While none of the band have ever owned a boat, we can only imagine the stress this would cause. The song is an exploration of how seemingly futile disagreement with a neighbour can take over your life, becoming the only thing you can think about.” The track is also accompanied by a homemade video that pays homage to indie videos of the 90s and 00s. ‘River’ is taken from the upcoming debut album, God Park, which is dropping on June 20th, 2025, via Fatcat Records. -Dan Peeke
