VON SELL MISS ME

As ‘Miss Me’ completes Von Sell’s first self-titled EP, it’s undeniable that the Brooklyn-based artist has carved out a space in today’s music scene that is entirely his own. Exquisitely produced, this young talent once again mixes that warbling vocal, a pinch of 70s glam rock and a healthy dose of modern indie-pop, this time recalling English bands Metronomy and Glass Animals. It’s a smooth continuation of his past five songs, but at the same time is unique, especially as it showcases a previously unheard pensive side. Originally from Hamburg, Germany, where this songwriter-producer first began making music in his bedroom, you have to wonder whether the longing in ‘Miss Me’ is directed at his home country. What’s wonderful about this song, is that even if you haven’t experienced prolonged geographical separation, we can surely all understand missing something or someone. - HT
