‘Gallowine’ is the new single from alt-rock powerhouse, Ugly. The band, since the release of their 2024 EP, Twice Around The Sun, have become known for a sound that brings together the swell of the choral textures that make up their musical background, with an experimental take on post-rock defined by explosive changes of dynamic and topped by memorable melodies. This track aligns with their established sound, formulated into a pop structure that expands into a din of warped sound. They say that the new song is “definitely one of the most hardest-hitting tracks in the album and features a lot of elements that make the band what it is. Nonsensical words, bouncy/interwoven guitars and ambitious harmonies - just a few of the motifs that we explore in the song. It’s hard to say exactly what the song is about but it provides an air of the fantastical - switching between modes of heroic jubilation and chaotic descent.” ‘Gallowine’ is the first single from the band’s debut album, The South Facade, which drops in 2026. -Dan Peeke
