North Vancouver songsmith Tobias Jesso Jr's babe has done him wrong, and come minute four of 'How Could You Babe', his latest Girls-flavoured, piano-and-strings swoonfest, we've found ourselves mouthing his heartbroken refrain over and over - how could she indeed? Why on earth would she? This guy has the sort of sweetly antiquated croon that could melt even the stoniest of hearts.

Jesso Jr releases his debut full-length, Goon, on 17 March via True Panther, with Pitchfork and just about every other indie tastemaker already salivating over the added production from Girls' Chet “JR” White, The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney, and Vampire Weekend, Haim and Sky Ferreira collaborator, Ariel Rechtshaid. If Jesso Jr continues to sparkle in this fashion, we have an inkling that his (ex?) babe may be pining for a reconciliation before long. - DC
