Fleet-based songwriter THØSS is a master of secrecy. We would never have heard his grandiose - and yet at once laid bare - debut track, 'Swing', were it not for a handful of mates who convinced him to go public, after months of private listening sessions. Standing at a mere 6"6 tall, it's a miracle nobody has spotted him before now. 'Swing' shares DNA with both Daughter (the scintilla of melancholy synth) and Bon Iver (the loosely twanging guitar loop) but it's in Ben Howard's darker recesses that the 25-year-old finds his nearest ancestor. Whether he shies away from the spotlight now that 'Swing' is catching fire online is another matter - enjoy him while you still can. - DC
