The Thing have revealed their self-titled third album; ‘Above Snakes’ is the opening track. It’s a mission statement of a track, that introduces their unique blend of melodic modern rock and a healthy dose of heavy psychedelia. Zane Acord’s voice is distant and distorted, and proves to be the perfect topline for an accompaniment driven by gritty bass lines and seamless vibe shifts. “It showcases all of us, all of our different personalities,” says Acord of the new album. “We hang our hats on being a true band — where we all have the spotlight.
