THE ESSEX GREEN DON'T LEAVE IT IN OUR HANDS

Earlier this week long-serving indie poppers The Essex Green announced Hardly Electronic, their first album since 2006's Cannibal Sea. The first snippet from the Brooklyn trio's much-awaited return questions the impact of technology on generations to come. Specifically drawing attention to addictiveness of screens and society's decreasing ability to live in the moment, 'Don't Leave It In Our Hands' is a harrowing tale dressed up as breezy guitar-pop. Getting gradually more desperate as the track progresses The Essex Green urge their listeners to "look around", warning "there's only one way this is going to end" before bursting into a cathartic outro of soaring vocals, euphoric guitar parts and thundering drums. Hardly Electronic will be released on the 29th of June via Merge. -Holly Mullineaux
