TAC SLE...EP

'SLE…EP' functions as both an introduction and a destination. Released first, yet written as the conceptual closer of the upcoming EP it shares its title with, the track invites listeners into Tac’s internal world with full awareness of where the journey ultimately lands - sleep. From the opening bars - 'Truth be told I’m still in search of my identity / Pen written verses to help determine my legacy / But first come first, I gotta let y'all in” - Tac lays bare a personal history shaped by immense responsibility, pressure, and hardship with perfect lyricism. Born in Abu Dhabi, raised in Dubai, and rooted in North African heritage, Tac brings a perspective largely absent from global hip-hop and alternative rap narratives, not because of talent or substance, but geography. Operating from a region underrepresented internationally, he delivers craft and cohesion on par with the best globally. On SLE…EP, he writes, produces, mixes, and masters the record himself, moving fluidly between rapping and singing. The song unfolds like a late-night reckoning, shaped by childhood memories, identity struggles, and internal conflict. As the EP’s closer, SLE…EP gathers the emotional threads of the wider project and confronts the overthinking that keeps the mind awake. The closing line - 'when you go to sleep, do you overthink like me?' marks a moment of recognition and sleep finally arrives, not as avoidance but as something earned through reflection and acceptance, facing the thoughts that have long lingered throughout the 10 tracks. With the full project dropping on 6th February, SLE…EP introduces Tac as an artist whose work transcends regional boundaries, a storyteller whose skill and vision invite broader attention and a voice fully capable of standing alongside his global contemporaries. It’s an opener that deepens with context, and a closer that lingers long after it ends. -Rachel Fryer
