SUDAN ARCHIVES SELFISH SOUL
Rising to the incredibly high bar that she set with her phenomenal comeback single ‘Home Maker’, Sudan Archives knocks it out the park again with the high energy ‘Selfish Soul’. The concise banger zooms along with stomping beats and vibrating bass, ever-so-slightly reminiscent of M.I.A’s ‘Paper Planes’. As ever, Archives provides a deadly violin hook, as her flawless vocals do an excellent job of hyping up her listeners. Lyrically empowering and triumphant, Archives offers: “(‘Selfish Soul’ is) about women and the celebration of hair. It’s about representation of different hair textures and embracing all colors and textures of it.” Arriving alongside an aptly vibrant video directed by Trey Lyons, ‘Selfish Soul’ is kaleidoscopic rush of adrenaline. Listen and watch here now as we anticipate Sudan Archives’ next full length release. -Holly Mullineaux
