SPRESSO DAY OUT

Underground supergroup Spresso (consisting of Alpha Maid, Mica Levi and Zach Toppin) have revealed yet another gnarly nugget of lo-fi grunge in 'Day Out'. At a brief 1 minute 35 seconds, overblown guitar strums circle dirgy yet melodic bass lines as somehow loose yet sharp beats glue the guitar work together. Taking a freeing approach to songwriting there's an understated sense of innocence and an applaudable confidence in Spresso's work. Mumbling nonsensical lyricism, like a sort of twisted nursery rhyme (we made out the words, 'monkey, banana, split'), 'Day Out' is the kinda track you could listen to for hours on repeat, loosing yourself in its heavy groove. Arriving alongside a tastefully seedy video directed by Finnbar Porteous, starring the truly majestic Sabrina Jade, 'Day Out' is a treat for the eyes and ears. -Holly Mullineaux
