SOURFACE LIZARD KING

‘Lizard King’ is a breakneck piece of funk-punk, courtesy of French-British quartet, Sourface. The band claim inspiration from everything from Fat White Family, to Stravinsky and The Doors’ 20-minute epic, ‘The Celebration Of The Lizard’. This eclecticism and broad palette of musical muses shows in the two minutes of madness the band has placed before us. Manic guitar chops and full-on freak-outs are rife throughout, but all packaged within a track that remains entertaining and melodic. Despite being formed just before lockdown, the band have quickly established a signature sound, rooted in channelling positivity, hopefulness and joy. -Dan Peeke
