Dutch-British musician Someone is an addictive creator of psychedelic pop music and has returned with a new single: ‘Strange World’. The song is beautiful, letting bass melodies cut through melancholy acoustic guitar chords before drifting towards unexpected major chords and perfectly utilised slapback-delay on the simplistic guitar of the chorus. “I couldn’t stop playing it and in my mind the image started to form of a vast outstretched beach,” she says of the video that comes with the track. “Deserted, but for one person. This is her place; this is where she keeps returning to. But it’s not real. And so the story started to take shape.” Her upcoming album, Shapeshifter, drops late 2021. -Dan Peeke
