It's been a while since we've been ripped wide open on a first listen. 'u make me miserable' is the second track on the debut album from Limerick outfit Some Images of Paradise. Scratching the emo itch from 2004 with a fresh and innovative intensity, i expect the same of u landed on Friday via Everything Is Perfect, sporting 10 devastating masterpieces in their own right. The aforementioned 'u make me miserable' cuts deep, opening gently before a tidal wave of guitars enter. A marching snare propels layered vocals that cover sweetness and sorrow before unleashing tortured screams. Blasted through a tremolo effect, the production is immersive and experimental adding deeper dynamics to an already gut-wrenching work. Heading on tour with fellow TMR tips Bricknasty across Ireland from tomorrow, you'd be gutted to miss one of these shows (or at least we would).
