Innovative folk enthusiasts Shovel Dance Collective have shared news of their new album The Water is the Shovel of the Shore, set for a collaborative release via double dare and Memorials of Distinction on the 1st of December. Spearheading the process is their meditative take on 'The Bold Fisherman'. Droning and rich, it's easy to lose yourself in this piece as it builds like a rising tide over less than 3 minutes. The band eloquently describe the upcoming project: "This release has been a couple of years in the making and orbits around the concept of water. Featuring around an hour of longform sound-collages it weaves together on-site traditional music performances and watery field recordings. The results have ended up somewhere between folk music, acoustic ecology and musique concrete...Water has somewhat of a pervasive presence in folk music: somewhere to work upon, love across, die in and be resurrected by.
