SAM EVIAN ROLLIN' IN

A we experience some long-overdue rays of sunshine in London, Sam Evian's breezy new single 'Rollin' In' captures a reflective yet optimistic mood. Elegantly bridging elements of country and dream-pop, 'Rollin' In' pushes along lightly, as muted drums anchor jangly guitar tumbles and twinkling synthesizers cradle Evian's earnest vocals. Stirred by impactful piano chords before diving into the comforting chorus, the easy-listening track is masterfully written. Lyrically, "The song is a box of memories, and a meditation. I grew up on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina, and often went down to the ocean to commune with myself, a habit I picked up from my mother. It's a reflection of that time of my life, and who I've become in the years since. I started writing about a simple relationship theme, but quickly realised I was examining myself and my own disillusionment with who I thought I would become, versus the person I am today." Lifted from his forthcoming album Plunge (out March 22nd), which features contributions from Adrianne Lenker (Big Thief), El Kempner (Palehound) and more, 'Rollin' In' indicates the imminent arrival of a truly gorgeous LP. -Holly Mullineaux
