‘Apparition’ is the first single from Melbourne-based jangle-pop band Quivers since their signing for Merge Records. It’s an anthemic tune that takes the listener on a tour through a variety of instantly memorable hooks, sung with jubilance over a simple, janky guitar-forward accompaniment. Lyrically, the track is designed to represent a forgotten favourite resurfacing on the radio during a late-night drive. The video that accompanies the track was made “over two days with a borrowed Handicam. In our excitement to join our dream label, Merge, we thought it best to make no big moves, just deliver a $0 filmclip and be ourselves, albeit in homemade ghost owl costumes.” Keep an eye out for their album, Oyster Cuts, when it drops on August 9th, 2024. -Dan Peeke
