Experimental dance-punks PVA have been unbelievably hard at work, fitting in numerous support tours, earth-shattering DJ sets and now, we're thrilled to receive new music. Following their exceptional Toner EP, released last year via Ninja Tune offshoot Big Dada, 'Untethered' is an unrelenting slice of thoughtful yet abrasive electro-pop. Propelled by a dizzying combination of ticking drum machines and booming acoustic beats, complex arpeggiators and throbbing synthesizers bear most of the melodic burden, whilst vocalist Ella Harris' cool, dystopian vocal style guides the way, like a clammy held hand in a dark, smoke-filled club. They say: "Untethered is a song about release. It’s our current set opener and an introduction to our industrial arm. We wrote it in one session in a burst of chaotic catharsis. The lyrics follow a character being freed from imaginary tethers and experiencing the earth under their feet again."
