POOR CREATURE ALL SMILES TONIGHT

With their debut album coming quickly into focus, Irish supergroup (Landless, Lankum et al) Poor Creature unveil its mesmerising title track. Accompanied by a nostalgic video directed by band members Ruth Clinton & Cormac Mac Diarmada, 'All Smiles Tonight' is a masterful weaving of old and new. Giving a small nod to the influence of American folk/bluegrass acts like Doc Watson and the Louvin Brothers, Poor Creature's penchant for atmospheric drones remains intact, as does their interest in electronics. Developing well over 5 minutes, the band explain: "This song is about seeing your fella on the dance floor with another woman except it's 1879." All Smiles Tonight will arrive on the 11th of July via Rough Trade Records imprint River Lea. -Holly Mullineaux
