A stalwart of London's underground music scene, percussionist Pike enters his solo era with 'Fallen Angel' and 'Concrete Dub'. The former is the focus of this piece, fusing melancholy guitars with a heavy, hip-hop-flavoured mood. Having developed a unique rhythmic fingerprint, indebted as much to UK bass music as to rock, dub and avant-garde electronics, Pike's unique touch can be heard in collaboration with Charlie Osborne, Covco, The Fertile Crescent and fellow TMR favourite Tiberius b. Decidedly more downbeat than its companion track, 'Fallen Angel' is an introspective instrumental that masterfully navigates genres as disparate as post-rock, trance and grime.
