One of the UK’s current favourite rising pop stars is the unique Phoebe Hall. Her new single, ‘Better’ is a deeply melodic track that finds its place between incredibly produced art pop, and a fully-fledged pop banger. Her warm voice is the focal point of the track, guiding us towards the emotive, explosive chorus. The track is “about overthinking myself out of a relationship. It’s about being so paranoid that I’ll lose who I am with so much that I imagine a whole new life for them. It’s petty and angry and sad and queer, focusing on the spiralling obsession you get when you’re convinced you’re going to lose someone.” Phoebe is gearing up to release new music throughout 2024, and is heading out on tour alongside her live band this April. -Dan Peeke
