'Thoughts in the Ether' is the lighter-than-air debut by longstanding London-based musician and producer Paul Cousins. Having dipped his magic fingers into numerous musical pies over the years, Cousins' first solo offering is a pristine piece of ambient synth music that nods to one of his heroes Brian Eno. Suiting its title, there's an evaporative quality to the track as atmospheric pads slowly unfurl around a pure, ascending piano line. Elevating gradually over its 4 minute duration, it's a relaxing and beautiful cut that's perfect to unwind to. Providing some much-needed respite from the chaos of 2020, we'll be patiently awaiting more from Paul Cousins. -Holly Mullineaux
