MUI ZYU EVERYTHING TO DIE FOR

A year on from the release of her wonderfully surreal debut album Rotten Bun For An Eggless Century, longstanding TMR favourite mui zyu shares the breathtaking anti-ballad 'everything to die for'. Propelled by chugging acoustic guitar, scratchy synths play off-kilter melodies that catch you off guard as mui zyu's delicate vocals spill over the ethereal soundscape. Sitting in a familiar yet entirely otherworldly sonic realm, she explains: “This song arrived so fast, like a gift from somewhere else, the words and music poured out altogether and the final version is musically identical to the original sketch. I’d never written a love song and had been listening to lots of romantic music and this just teleported in. I love chromatic melodies as they are hopeful and naive but can feel unnerving, all of which embody ideas of love to me.” Listen to 'everything to die for' here now and keep an eye on mui zyu's socials for upcoming live performances. -Holly Mullineaux
