Dama Scout were on TMR's radar quite some time ago, and for good reason. Currently pursuing a solo project, one third of the band Eva Liu has announced her debut EP a wonderful thing vomits under her mui zyu moniker, pronounced ”moy joo”. Liu's new single 'yolk' is a fascinating slow-burner built around a haunting synth sequence played in 3/4. Apposing a more traditional sounding waltz, trip-hoppy electronics enter the equation around half-way through as Liu's serenely delivered vocals speak about subjects close to heart. She explains: "yolk is about navigating the pressures on young women growing up in a foreign country, realizing you’re different–mostly as a result of harmful social interactions–meanwhile having traditions forced upon you that don’t seem to make sense...Escaping inward can seem like the only solution until you feel strong enough to be yourself. yolk wanders between the real, (confusing and sometimes traumatic) world and the imaginary world where we feel safe." a wonderful thing vomits will arrive on the 30th of July and we can't wait to hear it. -Holly Mullineaux
