MINOR CONFLICT LIVING STATUE

Bristol band Minor Conflict tickled our fancy with their early outing for Slow Dance Records 'Office Block' last year - a wonderfully unusual track that fused ambient electronics with wailing vocals, jagged harp playing and a post-punky rhythm section. Now signed to reliable pioneers of left-field talent, PRAH Recordings, 'Living Statue' is the first single from their forthcoming debut EP, details of which are soon to be revealed. Setting an abstract scene with meditative cymbals and distant scales, 'Living Statue' lulls you into a false scene of security, making the sudden introduction of drums and bass all the more impactful. Striking the harp with vigour and conviction, the celestial-sounding instrument cuts through a brooding soundscape like a sunbeam. Powering along with rapidity, the band's intertwining vocals add another dynamic element to the intriguing composition, which veers between softness and abrasiveness at the drop of a hat. Get to know Minor Conflict as we await what's sure to be a brilliant EP. -Holly Mullineaux
