NYC collective MICHELLE have released a delightful performance video for their smash single ‘The Bottom’. Having already built up a loyal following in their home city, the majority queer/POC group is set to gain even more fans with their earnest, timeless and feel-good pop anthems. ‘The Bottom’ is a synthesised tapestry of 00s R&B, 80s synth, and 90s pop pieced together by Julian Kaufman and Charlie Kilgore and led by the unique harmonies of the four singers Jamee Lockard, Layla Ku, Sofia D’Angelo, and Emma Lee. It’s an unbelievably catchy song that’ll have you singing “I’m not afraid to see the bottom, / ‘Cause I will, / And I will” at the top of your lungs. Listening to ‘The Bottom’ is akin to turning a valve and letting all those negative emotions rush out, leaving you only with a sense of hope and newfound buoyancy.
