Alt-folk favourites Memorial have returned with their beautiful new single, ‘Silver’. It’s a tender track that centres its accompaniment on gently strummed acoustic guitar and laid-back piano. This allows for the soaring voices of Ollie Spalding and Jack Watts to intertwine seamlessly, with power and melody. They say that this track is “about betrayal within friendships. This centres around how some friendships, particularly working relationships, feel so important that there can be a heavy focus on protecting it, which can lead to isolation. Being within that involves sacrifice in other important aspects of life such as romantic relationships, pastimes and opinions.” The duo are going to be releasing their second album, Redsetter, on May 10th, 2024. -Dan Peeke
