Berlin-based US trio Meagre Martin have dropped their new single, ‘TBD (The Big Death)’. It’s an impressive cut underpinned by folk influence. A thick, groovy rhythm section is fronted and driven by powerful bass and tight drums, with airy, bright, jangling guitars juxtaposing this sonically. There’s a vulnerability to Sarah Martin’s voice, with her drifting, light tone taking the shoegaze influences to the next level. They explain that the single is “about the fear of uncertainty. It deals with the difficulty in accepting death, both personally and environmentally. But this is hidden and sugar-coated in a fun, upbeat indie track.” Their debut album, Gut Punch, is due for release on November 10th, 2023. -Dan Peeke
