MAGNOLIA OMAHA BEACH
Norwich-based art-punk seven-piece MAGNOLIA have revealed their new single, ‘Omaha Beach’. It’s a soaring, cinematic track that creates a haunting atmosphere from its slow, opening moments. It explodes into life soon after, with metal drums and guitar backing the jazzy wail of saxophones. Vocalist George Rodgers delivers his lyrics in a BCNR-esque spoken word style, with passion and energy behind every word. “Lyrically, it was inspired by the film ‘Come And See’ which is incredibly bleak, however the lyrics at the end were only conceived during the recording of the song. They became a tribute to people I care about in life as they have helped me stay sane during the creation of this music. At times writing and recording has caused us to become manic and stressed, but the people in our lives that love us kept us grounded.” The band are also releasing their new EP, Omaha, on May 30th, 2025, via Shake! Shake! Records, and they’ll be playing London’s Windmill in May and June. -Dan Peeke
