LYNKS I DIDN'T COME HERE FOR ART
South London-hailing drag phenomenon Lynks returns with the comically ambivalent 'I Didn't Come Here For Art'. Having taken a well-deserved break, after a whirlwind trajectory, 'I Didn't Come Here For Art' marks a return to independence. Now identifying as "a humble indie g!mp", the new single is quintessential Lynks. Sporting Benny Benassi-style synth bass and cutting critiques of pretence, 'I Didn't Come Here For Art' is longing for a big night out and a space where inhibitions are left at the door. Relatable and delivered with incredible comic timing, Lynks observations are astute and self-aware, poking fun and enjoying the process as they tease 'look people we need to act now, as it looks like they're about to set up life drawing'. Arriving alongside a video that brings the story to life, 'I Didn't Come Here For Art' shows Lynks' dedication to the dance floor and their own artistic vision. -Holly Mullineaux
