LUNAR HAND SMOKE AND CHANDELIERS
There’s something haunting and gritty about South Californian band Lunar Hand’s new track ‘Smoke and Chandeliers’. It suggests impending doom, with that marching introduction and thrashing guitars, and yet it’s complete surrender we’re hearing in those brooding, 1950s-era baritone. Combining elements of vintage pop, West Coast psych and garage rock, these recent high school graduates create a bold, intoxicating sound reminiscent of early Arctic Monkeys or The Strokes. ‘Smoke and Chandeliers’ is a dramatic plea for replenishment, for salvation from “feeling just fine,” one that’ll catch your attention with momentous, desert rock crescendos and poetical stanzas. Look out for Lunar Hand’s debut EP, Magic Hour, due out September 15th. - HT
