LEYA MUST HAVE BEEN GOOD (FEAT. EARTHEATER)
LEYA are a violinist and harpist duo from New York, who's name first hit our radar when they featured on avant-garde vocalist Martha Skye Murphy's stunning Ethan P. Flynn co-produced single 'Concrete'. Teaming up with a similarly experimental vocalist (and favourite of ours) Eartheater, 'Must Have Been Good' is a fantastically uncanny composition that is both beautiful and unnerving as tumbling harp sequences interact with tension-filled strings and otherworldly electronics. Eartheater's unmistakably airy vocals occupy the space perfectly, giving a ghostly feel to the already spine-tingling instrumentation. The band comment: "Alex (Eartheater) is the collaborator with whom we've worked the most over the years...‘Must Have Been Good’ picks up the breadcrumb trail; we speak again to a subject split between the present and the past and we revel in a transcendence that bears both the colors of triumph and pain. There is an inevitability to flying if we can just remember why we are here." Watch the video, directed by Eartheater, here now. -Holly Mullineaux
