LEILAH ARION ATER

With 'Arion Ater', LEILAH delivers one of the most striking moments from her new EP Lost the Plot. Named after the scientific term for the black slug, the track turns an unlikely metaphor into something disarmingly human - a dialogue between two selves: the grounded realist and the restless songbird longing for release. The song opens with stark imagery- 'canvas filled with a sad face, black slugs and night owls', immediately setting a gothic yet intimate tone. LEILAH’s voice glides between vulnerability and defiance, carrying a spectral weight that lingers long after the track ends. The production mirrors this duality: hushed, atmospheric textures rise into soaring refrains, much like a songbird pushing against the glass of its own confinement. The production heightens this duality, layering hushed atmospheres with soaring refrains, like wings brushing against glass. It captures the tension of carrying heaviness while holding onto the hope of flight. 'Arion Ater' feels like the heart of the storm’s quiet eye. It’s reflective, poetic, and disarmingly raw. A meditation on carrying heaviness while praying for release. -Rachel Fryer
