LEATHER.HEAD WORLD.BUILDING

Comprised of siblings and friends, post-punk experimentalists leather.head have forged a loyal cult following in recent years. Shifting gradually from Brighton to South London and further afield, the tight-knit group will release their long-awaited debut album next month. Recorded in just 4 days with frequent collaborator Jamie Neville (at Teeth Studios), mud again is a sonic amalgamation of their journey to date. Born out of frustration at the lack of racial diversity in the alternative scene in the mid-tens, leather.head's interests have always been political and continue to be. Signposting the imminent release comes their newest single 'world.building' - an expectedly visceral and gut-wrenching cut. Pairing crystal-clear imagery with perpetually fluctuating dynamics, hints of mathrock, slow-core and hardcore make their way into its ether. As the result of 'world.building' is aptly/entirely their own. If their intentions weren't already clear, the band accompany the track with “Burn the flags, destroy the factories, never forgive, never forget." mud again will arrive on the 21st of November via self-run micro-label 2horse Records and (staying true to their DIY ethos), the band explain their intentional boycott of Spotify: “Fuck Spotify, fuck billionaires. All streaming services are bad for musicians, Spotify is bad for humanity. We ‘re aware we are a very small band with a small following but we don’t want to normalise the connection between music and AI war machines. It’s only normal if you let it be. Find our music on other streaming services, bandcamp, Ninaprotocal, buy it if you can - if you can’t afford it but want the files just email us we will send it to you. L.H.-Holly Mullineaux
