LASH NO SPACE LEFT

Yet another act to emerge from the pool of legends surrounding South London's Gob Nation scene, playful post-punks Lash share 'No Space Left'. Appearing on their new EP Off The Leash, 'No Space Left' is bouncy and nostalgic as chorus-drenched bass drives the groove. Spooky keys haunt the mix atop of tortured vocals, which give Siouxsie and the Banshees meets The Sugarcubes (yet audibly more disenfranchised). Critically more whimsical than the former, there's something maddening and entirely self-aware about the single (and indeed the rest of the EP) as Lash explain: "these seven songs wind us through cramped living and drastic measures, the truancy of the inner child and the zero-hours wages of chronic precarity, teaching ourselves as adults the rules for how to play in all this mess without accepting it - trepanation against the bumpy wall your landlord won’t fix." Off The Leash is available now on bandcamp via the aforementioned DIY cultivators Gob Nation (link here). -Holly Mullineaux
