Kartell is fast becoming a household name, with a flurry of successful remixes for Lianne Le Havas, SG Lewis and Aurora boosting his profile earlier this year. Now stepping centre stage with ‘5 A.M’, the Parisian producer is looking to make his mark as a solo artist – and with tracks as crisp and funky as this, things are looking exciting. Stylistically, ‘5 A.M’ fits somewhere between deep house, funk and alternative R&B, with layers of vocal snippets and jazzy synth stabs giving the track a solid groove. The full EP, entitled Last Glow, is due to be released on 18^th November, which will also see Kartell perform at Les Inrocks Festival – a collaboration between Parisian label Roche Musique and Erased Tapes. -HM
