Having found a new home with the highly respected Rough Trade Records, ground-breaking alt-pop duo Jockstrap share the utterly entrancing 'Concrete Over Water'. The 6-and-a-half minute epic confidently explores soft, classic songwriting juxtaposed against the most modern of production techniques. Ellery's wistful vocals contemplate wanderlust and the kinetic sensations of city life, written "on a Summer’s night in 2019 in a flat in Farringdon which was above a pub, and above a train line. The place hummed when the trains went under." Sonically as inquisitive as the lyrics, carefully selected synth sounds surround steady, almost militant, beats, applying softness and hard edges in all the right spots. The co-directed video, which feels intrinsic to the release, "was born out of the celestial themes in the song. Eddie and I created the characters (Moongirl, Voyager, Magma Boy, etc.) to explore the feelings of wonder, inspiration and the search for answers, to reflect what the song represents to me...” Ellery explains.
