Explained best by the artist himself: “‘Hungry’ is a shout to the world from the pits of grief...Wanting to come out of hibernation and devour the world again. I bought a drum machine from a boot sale and a new synth and wrote this song very quickly. The lyrics are very on the nose, but they came from a real feeling. As much as you want to re enter the land of the living, the grief is still there. Grief acts as a social filtration system. Friends you’ve known your whole life suddenly cross the street when they see you. So you end up having these existential conversations with strangers, shopkeepers, cab drivers, librarians, tube workers. London is a good place for that. Stylistically this is ego death.
