London-based Italian band Husky Loops have announced the release of their debut album, I CAN’T EVEN SPEAK ENGLISH, for August 16th. From their forthcoming record, the trio offer up a tantalising appetiser ‘Everyone is Having Fun Fun Fun but Me’. It’s a track reflecting on modern-day disconnect through the lens of Husky Loops’ alt-rock slant. Gradually opening with sustained synth keys and solitary vocal, the band adds in clipped pieces of guitar and percussion. Just as we’ve warmed into the song, it bursts into trip-hop-esque beats and glitchy refrain, “everyone, everyone, having, having, fun fun fun, but me.” This robotic FOMO is strangely catchy, while the rave-worthy beats provide a contrast. We wonder perhaps if these lyrics are the inner monologue of someone at a party or club, unable to connect with everyone else who seems to be embracing the moment with ease. Surely, we’ve all been there; wishing we too could be swept up into the pulsating rhythms, while also wanting to be somewhere else? As with previous track ‘Let Go For Nothing’, Husky Loops taps into the millennial zeitgeist. - Hannah Thacker
