Having shed her Dog in the Snow moniker last year, studious Brighton-based musician Helen Ganya has announced a new album via Bella Union. Leading the procession is 'afterparty', a curious cut that combines drawn-out synths with whimsical vocals and a glitchy electronic undercurrent. Heavily effected electronic drums blast through the melee like gunshots as grandiose saxophones add to a rising sense of exuberance that concludes in a satisfying climax. Prefaced by some context on the album's lyrical themes, Ganya explains: “I’ve always slightly feared the ordinary...It never really represented how I feel and how many people feel.” Reinforced by 'afterparty's inquisitive words and an affecting choreographed video, polish the machine is promising to be an extraordinary LP.  -Holly Mullineaux
