H. HAWKLINE SUPPRESSION STREET

Welsh bard and Heavenly Recordings signing Huw Evans, pka H. Hawkline, unveils a timeless new tune from his approaching new album Milk For Flowers. Following it's surreal title track a matter of weeks ago (see our List Pick here), 'Suppression Street' is an accomplished outpouring of grief and love. Surrounded by friends and long-term collaborators, Cate Le Bon (producer), Tim Presley (guitar), Euan Hinshelwood (sax) and more, Evans croons touchingly over the considered instrumentation that exudes sombre touches of Bowie-esque glamour. Culminating in an eloquent metaphor for inner turmoil, the chorus line 'I buy my make up on suppression street, I paint my face for everyone I meet' sums it up poetically. He shares: "I’ve known myself twice. I’ve learnt a new language and know everyone who speaks it. It’s a dead language and you only need a few words. I’m an ice-skating cowboy and a little boy in the bank, we both press  against the glass of a filthy French window, sliding it in opposite directions. This one fell into my lap." -Holly Mullineaux
