South London band Goat Girl are celebrating the anniversary of their acclaimed album, Below The Waste, with a four-track EP of reimagined versions of the songs from the album. ‘sleep talk (chamber ensemble)’ is the first track on the EP, and sets the tone by replacing the trio’s thumping rhythms with classical instrumentation and the original track’s mellotron with a tender string quartet. It’s melancholy and moving, giving more space for singer Lottie Pendlebury’s lyrics to make an impact. The whole thing was recorded live in the room at Total Refreshment Centre by an impromptu chamber ensemble made up of Goat Girl, various other artists, and rising young musicians. The band are heading out on their first North American tour in September and October 2025. -Dan Peeke
