LIST PICK
ETHAN P. FLYNN BAD WEATHER
Set to be one of the greatest songwriters and storytellers of our time, Young-signed musician and producer Ethan P. Flynn is moving towards the release of his debut LP Abandon All Hope. 'Bad Weather' is the dynamic second single, following the album's spectacular title track (see our List Pick here). Opening to jovial acoustic guitar parts, Flynn embraces each creak and crack in his characterful vocals as low piano presses and subtle brassy sounds add a more ominous ambience. Bursting into a full band arrangement around the 1 minute mark, Flynn continues to demonstrate his talent for crafting emotive and satisfying compositions. In his own words: “The meaning of “Bad Weather” lies in the lyric “Don’t let the bad weather outlive you” - it’s one of the more positive songs on the album and really an encouraging message that any negative feelings of hopelessness are just transitional. The song features a sample from “Vegas Residency”, a track from my Universal Deluge EP, and is a nice reminder of how important that project was in my own journey to making this album.” Abandon All Hope will be released on the 6th of October. -Holly Mullineaux
