The Ontario-based trio Ellevator have dropped their new single, ‘Slip’. The track brings together a world of influences into something seriously unique. Melodramatic post-rock textures are balanced out by chugging stadium-ready guitars and hooks, as well as an overarching prog rock sensibility. The track is paired with an impressive visualiser that tells a dark, beautifully crafted story that matches the song to a tee. “It’s easy to imbue elemental stories like this with all sorts of meanings,” they say. “I think this one is about killing the things that hold us captive and returning to the water, wherever that is for you.” Their debut album, The Words You Spoke Still Move Me, is going to be released on May 6^th, 2022. -Dan Peeke
