Dallas-born multi-instrumentalist and producer Nick Das unveils new project dreamTX, and announces signing to Memorials of Distinction with debut single 'Elated'. Having played in shoegaze group Kraus and having occasionally co-written with Maggie Rogders, this new project was inspired by an uprooting to Woodstock and a new perspective on songwriting, informed by the new landscapes surrounding him, isolation and overworked hard-drives. The result is a saturated sprawl of sounds, layers of sonic textures that seem to exist in a constantly morphing state, shifting between recognisable and alien in the same bar. It's a sun-bleached swirl of sound that calls to mind contemporaries such as Parannoul and Weatherday. Here Das describes his process and ideas behind songwriting; “What happens to a song when you rewrite it one hundred times over again? I wanted to learn how that song might unfold, to see how many of my own hands could touch it. Our impressions, ears, perceptions are changing all the time. I wanted to make whole songs that feel like they contain all of me – the quiet, erratic, raw, inward, obscure, and bristing power that passes through me. I wanted to notice these changes, and document them. Some artists think their best songs are written in 15 minutes, but for me, I'm not so sure.” -Toby Evans-Jesra
