DRAHLA UNDER THE GLASS
Returning from a sustained period of relative silence, Leeds-born art-rock outfit Drahla share the enigmatic 'Under The Glass'. Expelling alternative 80s vibes with a watery bass sound, that fans of Warpaint and The Cure will admire, abrasive sax blasts push past heavy, motorik drums. As ever, vocalist/guitarist Lucile Brown's approach is darkly alluring, laying twangy, Bush Tetras-esque guitar lines beneath her cooly-delivered lyrics. The band expand: "'Under the Glass' represents a moment of creative reconnection, almost a sense of euphoria in the darkest moments - an awaited, yet slight, respite from reality. The song is a collage, reworking early ideas from 2020 with newer work - bridging the gap of time, in the literal sense as well as musically. The lyrics are deliberately vague, using metaphor to interpret personal experience and emotion of loss and grief." Catch Drahla on tour across the UK from the 18th of September. -Holly Mullineaux
