DISKOPUNK LILLA POJKE

Since 2016, Swedish disco pirates Diskopunk have been releasing their high-octane music fuelled by glitter, energetic dancing, and a pure passion for their music. From debut single ‘Antonio America’, this five-piece bunch of dancefloor renegades won over Swedish audiences with their compelling live shows and dance-pop tunes. Fully aware of themselves, this group also describe their sound as “drug infused ABBA; Grandiose and chord driven pop songs punched up with beat driven post-punk elements like obnoxious cowbells, full on guitar riffs and the extensive use of percussion.” Their new release ‘Lilla Pojke’ finds a happy home within this sonic realm and with an awesome video trailer, those living outside of Sweden get a sense of how this group perform on stage. You could file this track somewhere in between Patawawa’s disco enthusiasm, Balthazar’s brooding yet upbeat instrumentation, Tempesst’s knack for top notch songwriting and Jungle’s inventive pop flair. Even putting those names aside, you can hear that Diskopunk draw on so many different elements of music, which makes ‘Lilla Pojke’ a thoroughly enjoyable and diverse track that’s sure to give you an instant pick-me-up. - Hannah Thacker (Photo credit: Marcus P G Gustavsson)
