Cork no-wave pioneers Crying Loser have dropped their mind-boggling new single, ‘Flesh Interface’. The track, like much of their output, originated from a series of basement improvisations. The end result is a piece of music almost impossible to define. On the one hand, there are rigid, almost post-punk bass lines and motorik drum patterns tying the whole thing together, with gruff, shouted vocals and honking saxophone countermelodies keeping the band aligned with the sound of a lot of modern alternative music. On the other hand, they frequently drift into the world of pure experimentation, with sections of frenzied noise and cacophonous distortion allowing the track to descend into madness. The band’s debut album, The Ick, is set for release in Spring 2026. -Dan Peeke
