Complete Mountain Almanac is a musical collaboration between Rebekka Karjord, Jessica Dessner, Bryce Dessner & Aaron Dessner. Following on from 2022's 'May', the group release a second single 'February', taken from Complete Mountain Almanac's self-titled debut album to be released on the 27th of January 2023 via Bella Union. 'February' features a plucked melody on a guitar that begins to have a hypnotic effect. Percussion patters like gentle rainfall whilst strings grow steadily, mirroring the intensity of the vocals. Commenting on the track lyricist Jessica Dessner says: "February is a song that began as a reckoning with the profound physical changes wrought by breast cancer and how they threaten to dismantle every aspect of life, and yet, somehow the spirit rises, remains constant, immutable, a force, like nature". Composer Rebekka Karijord adds, "February is like an ancient myth. A dance, moving in between vulnerability and resilience. It journeys through layers of odd meters, restlessness and mystery, and then lands in a musical landscape of acceptance and clarity.
