COMFORT RECEIVED LIFE

We first experienced Glasgow's industrial-pop sibling duo Comfort when they stole the show at one of the Bunker Live nights at the beloved Deptford Bunker (RIP Annie). Yesterday the pair shared 'Received Life' - their first release via South London-based tastemakers SLOW DANCE. Spat through a thick Glaswegian accent, vocalist Natalie's lyrics speak of a relatable dissatisfaction with today's frankly absurd socio-economic climate; reeling off a depressing series of anecdotes about "who you know not what you know" before exclaiming "There is no maximum wage". Positioned over metallic, no-wave-inspired sample loops, Sean's propulsive drums incorporate interesting hi-hat patterns that often catch you off guard. Serving as the first track from SLOW DANCE's forthcoming compilation Slow Dance '20, 'Received Life' is an exciting introduction to the innovative label. -Holly Mullineaux
