CHERRY I MISTAKE

London art-rock collective Cherry i have shared their new single ‘Mistake’. Shivering guitars sit above tight percussion, supporting an intimate vocal performance that guides the track from hushed reflection into cathartic release. There’s a surrealist influence of The Smile hidden in there somewhere, while King Krule and Portishead are clear influences on the track’s dark, brooding melancholy Portishead’s brooding textures. Vocalist Nikol says: “The idea behind the song is essentially a one-way conversation between a person and something inanimate, in this case it is the fraught relationship one can have with music and choosing that as a career path.” Catch the band live in London on November 6th. -Dan Peeke
